Doubts about Microcement
1. What is microcement?
It’s a continuous decorative coating (1mm – 4mm) of thickness; it’s composed of a base of high quality cement combined with aggregates, polymers and fibers. Microcement achieves very creative results through increased personalization, with different finishes and a wide range of colors.
2. How is microcement applied?
The application of microcement is a manual procedure of handmade style using trowel and spatula. The methodology used consists of conditioning base material, overlapping layers of the product and final sealing for protection.
3. What surfaces microcement can be applied in?
Adherence to any surface makes it ideal for coating any existing material such as mortar, concrete, drywall, ceramic, marble, granite, plaster, DM repellent, glass, tile, stone, rasilla, stone, porcelain … The only non-recommended surface is the parquet. And it can be applied on walls or floors inside, showers or baths, stairs, exterior walls or floors, pools, doors, furniture, facades, false ceilings…
4. What resistance has the microcement to shock or impact?
Microcement fastness is exposed depending on the hardness of the coated base material. Faced with a strong impact it will be deformed if the base surface is also deformed.
5. Can microcement get scratched?
Microcement can get scratched by constant and aggressive friction (mostly on floors), making it suitable to be careful when we manipulate furniture or we drag heavy elements on its surface.
When it comes to kitchen countertops we recommended using wooden boards cutting, to avoid damaging the microcement. In turn, we recommend detailing the usability that you will have the project for proper advice in choosing products. In the case of scratching the microcement a fast repair comprising sanding and sealing is enough.
6. Can it be used to coat water areas or wet?
Yes, their waterproofing coating components allow water areas such as showers, bathtubs, sinks, spa, sauna, floors pool, among others.
7. Can spots appear on the coated surfaces?
For this we should corroborate status and history shown in the existing base. If it is a surface that suffers constant humidity, it is possible that leaks rising after applying the coating may arise. If we want to avoid this situation, we must clean up the affected area and apply waterproofing products to avoid leaks and later coated area.
8. Is a complex maintenance required in microcement?
No, IngreMic’s recommended maintenance is easy to apply, since the same client can do it in most cases and it is applied manually with a cloth or mop a sealant and / or wax as appropriate.

Depending on the kind of microcement and final texture more or less slip resistance is achieved. For outdoor or water areas it is recommended to use microcements offering high slip resistance such as MicroRustic.

One of the important features that highlight the microcement is its customizability, having the choice between smooth or textured finishes, with matte, satin or gloss aspect. We have a wide range of colours that can be customized to the taste. Microcement does not require any joints as it is a decorative continuous coating. This feature provides a sense of spaciousness and cleanliness to all spaces. However, if the surface requires for technical reasons an expansion of joints and contraction to work on the existing basis, there you will have to them when implementing microcement to not to impede its functionality.
12. How much execution time does the work take?
The execution time of works directly depends on the drying time, the m2 coated, weather conditions (cold / hot / rains) and the irregularity and complexity of the surface. But because it is applied to existing surfaces duration times over other coatings are reduced.
13. Do they get deteriorates over time?
Whenever the material is properly maintained deterioration is minimized. It is also influenced by the fact whether the coated surface is pavement or wall or if inside or outside.
14. Can furniture be coated?
Yes, microcement can be coated on any existing surface of any kind of furniture. It is only necessary to ensure that the furniture is made of continuous pieces or stiffness in joints or to secure them to prevent cracks in the material.
15. Can you put hot containers on microcement?
It is not recommended to put hot containers on the coated surface, as they can damage the sealer microcement and leave a mark. Special care with kitchen counters or islands, or anywhere coated that working with hot containers.
16. Can you put microcement on area kitchen fire?
